The 20% figure is crap anyway, since the rating on the packets is what
the
tube gets delivered to it, and does not allow for the 5-8 watts that the
ballast itself use. On the cheap $2 shop bulbs (I guess thats the pound
store in the UK) they get even hotter so must be sucking down even more. So
your savings are way less, you may as well put in some 35 watt IRC halogens
which put out about the same as 80 watt incandesanct and be done with it.
Ive never got the thing people have with GU10's since the filiment is so
big
they put out weird light patterns with an image of the filiment visable on
some i have tried. That and their tendancy to blow dimmers when the bulb
goes....
