I would have thought that in basic terms a Watt is a Watt, if you reduce

e voltage you must draw more current so the power consumed is the same.

I have tried a couple of different types from Brightlightz.co.uk, the SMD =
units seem to be brighter, a 4 Watt unit being very close to the same as a

50 Watt Halogen and reducing power consumption by 90%. These lamps are
arou=
nd =A310 and there are dimmable models. The light is not quite as good as
H=
alogen but they are getting much better.

The only issue I have had is that the mains versions do seem to introduce
s=
ome noise so if your X10 can be a little flakey they can make things
worse.=
