I
suspect that the chip got confused and permanently energised the relay, the
prolonged energisation leading to overheating and eventual total failure of
the
coil.
Based
on Mark's comments the other day, I suppose you had less than a snowball
chance
in hell of getting any compensation from Northern Ireland Electricity
:-(

Some you may recall I
posted a few weeks ago about how two of my AD10s had given
up.
This
was caused by a prolonged low-voltage mains supply condition.
Investigation showed that the relays have burnt out.
Well, I
contacted Mike Huggins, of "Lets Automate", and although the units were
just out of warranty, Mike agreed that this was an odd failure, and has
promptly replaced the units under warranty.
An example of how
"customer
service" should work.
