OT: Windows MP4 editors

Peeps, hoping your collective knowledge can do better than my google-fi...

I've spent the last several hours trying to determine IF there is a simple
=
and genuinely free video editor for Windows 10. - MS no longer offer the
ol=
d Windows Movie Maker on W10, and it's no longer available for download.
In=
fact some other company seems to offering something which masquerades as t=
he old MS product, but is nothing of the sort. In fact that's been pretty
=
much the 'tale of the tape' so far all day... - plenty of so-called free
MP=
4 editors come up in google searches, but thus far, every single one is a
m=
isrepresentation, and is not freeware, merely a free trial of a for-pay
pro=
duct...

For the record, I have absolutely no issue whatsoever paying a fair price
f=
or a suitable piece of software, but I really cannot stand the outright
lie=
s and misrepresentation employed by the vendors of every piece of software
=
that I have installed (and promptly removed) from my PC today, - and it's
p=
urely because of the tactics employed to bait me to install their software
=
under the pretence of it being free, only to later discover that I can't
sa=
ve the output without paying, - that I therefore *refuse* to deal with
that=
company or their software...

So, my question to you is: - Is there a *genuinely free* MP4 video editor
f=
or Windows 10??

My requirements are solely to trim sections out of a longer video - I need
=
to be able trim the beginnings, ends, _and_ sections within an MP4 file -
I=
deally without faffing around breaking it up into multiple sections then
re=
joining them - I just want to be able to mark a start & end point
anywhere =
within the video, and cut out that part, then save the resultant file in
ex=
actly the same format, minus those few cut minutes...

If the answer is no, there aren't any genuinely free products, does anyone
=
have any recommendations for a low-cost paid option - given that my needs
a=
re restricted solely to the trimming I just described, I don't have any
nee=
d of a more complex product, with vastly more features, and the higher
pric=
e that would (rightly) command...

I need it to be fairly straightforward and intuitive to use - this isn't
my=
forte, I just need to do some casual editing to remove crappy unwanted par=
ts of home movies, and ad breaks in the occasional TV show...

Many thanks

Paul G.
