VPN to Draytek router – help wanted!

Hi all,

I have some devices at home that I want to access from inside a separate
corporate network.

With a noip.com account I can access some of them, but some outgoing ports
are blocked (ports 80 & 8080 work, 5000 & 5001 are blocked).

The 5000 & 5001 ports were arbitrarily selected by me, so I could
change
them to other numbers but it then ends up as a trial and error exercise as
to which will work, and if I move to a new employer, or client office
there=E2=80=99s no guarantee the same ports will be open there.

So a VPN is the way to go (I think?)

I=E2=80=99ve got a Draytek 2820 router at home which supports VPN.

When trying to =E2=80=9Cphone home=E2=80=9D from work:

# The inbuilt Win7 VPN =E2=80=9Cclient=E2=80=9D fails to establish a
connec=
tion =E2=80=9Cprobably
due to a firewall/router not supporting the GRE (Generic Routing
Encapsulation) protocol=E2=80=9D.

# The company provides a Cisco VPN client so I can access work stuff when
travelling. I did try adding a new connection to home, but this didn=E2=80=
=99t seem
to work either.

# Draytek=E2=80=99s SmartClient software appears to establish a connection
=
but I
can=E2=80=99t see how to access my stuff. How do I open a browser session
t=
o access
devices on my home network when at work on a work pc?

Have I missed out a vital step?

Any help will be much appreciated :-)

Cheers,

Tim.
