I guess an analogy is the cooker. You take a saucepan of cold water,
pop it
on stove and turn the gas up to full.
When it boils, what do you do? You turn it down low, and keep it low and
everything is steady.
You don't turn it off and then a few minutes later turn it back on high a
few minutes time before turning it off again...

I did notice a while back some z-wave trv's but they were a bit pricey.

They do however appear to have a built in scheduler so you could do the
turn down at night thing automatically...
