RE: Linux Home Automation options

Dave,

I was a Misterhouse fan (Installed on XP) but to me it is looking rather
dated and does not like a lot of network traffic (misses packets). I also
have a Windows Home Server. Both of these are 19" rack mount
PC's/Servers.
Chews lot's of power and makes lots of NOISE and heat.

I then found OpenRemote and love lots of its features, to me the best being
how it can be controlled from multiple platforms i.e. Android
phone/tablets,
Mac phone/tablets and the main controller will run on just about any
operating system.

Currently I have it running on XP and taking over some of the Misterhouse
functionality.

So the path I have taken is to buy a Synology DS412+ (this runs a version
of
Linux) and I have loaded the OpenRemote controller onto it as well.

I will eventually decommission both of the 19" rack PC's.

Neil.

Subject: [ukha_d] Linux Home Automation options

Hi all,

After years of using Homeseer running on a Windows PC I would like to look
at the option of setting up and maintaining a Linux (Ubuntu) PC to run the
house after a few issues with Windows always rebooting in its own (Even if
I
disable auto updates it still does it)

Is there anyone here using Linux and could recommend suitable software for
this?

I am using ZWave so would like to have something that works with that.

Dave.

Very funny Scotty, now beam down my clothes.
