1 wire: connector suggestions?

  • Subject: 1 wire: connector suggestions?

Following the recent connector suggestions discussion, here's another
one people might have ideas about:

I've got a 1-wire network which is gradually weaving its way round the
house (in Clipsal pink), mostly with temp sensors but also some counters
for meters and some relay control. I've just bought a couple of EDS
OW-SERVER-ENET-2, which have RJ12 sockets and have a HobbyBoards unit and
"Poulton Specials" which have RJ45 sockets.

Currently I'm just sticking RJ45s on the trailing ends but they're a bit
messy - maybe I should cut the leads back but I'd prefer a socket I could
attach to the wall. One thought would be a either a single or a double RJ45
socket (double would allow you to extend the 1-wire to the sensor without
creating a branch, though arguably the same could be done with a single one
"unusually" wired, or is not worth worrying about). Someone here
(http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=141980)
mounted a
DS18B20 straight into an RJ45 plug which I thought was clever. Or maybe I
should just have a blanking panel and use a connector block instead. My
main priorities are 1-wire stability, then ease of isolating sensors,
followed by neatness.
Cunning plans anyone? TIA!
