VMDirectPath is a new capability provided in vSphere for direct
assignment of PCI devices to a VM for guest control of
physical hardware.
VMDirectPath is designed for special purpose I/O appliances and high
performance VMs that require the portability and
management benefits of a VM, but do not need support for additional VM
functions such as VMotion, fault tolerance
and suspend/resume."
