I don't see it being useful as the ONLY remote for a system, but for
something like Sonos its great to have control from my iPhone as well as

Plex is Intel only, XBMC for Mac has a PPC version though.

The iPhone can and does multi-task.  It's that Apple dictate the few apps
it
alls to run in the background.  For example you can use the ipod whist also
running other apps.

With Android and now Palm on the scene with multitasking, hopefully Apple
will be forced to allow users to run the background apps they want to soon.
