RE: Seeking longer IDE cable



Forgive the slight lateral thinking here but why not just go get a
round IDE
cable from PCWorld - they're a fair bit longer than the standard flat
ribbon
cables IIRC and not *THAT* scarily priced.

I'd be dubious about removing and reusing the connectors on an 80 way IDE
cable to be frank - I've done it on 40 way cables in the past and that has
worked (but you have to be careful that as you peel the cable out of the
teeth of the connector you don't pull the pins through) but the 80 way
cables are a lot more fragile and fiddly.
