Have you got a convenient cupboard/wardrobe upstairs you could put a
fused switch is? i.e. one of these:

Feed your mains supply in and hard-wire your fig-8 cable to the outlet
and just have a bit of cable down through the ceiling above. you've
met the requirements for accesible isolation and it will look
"ok".
Alternatively, flush-fit a socket into the ceiling local to the P-J -
you may still want to fit an isolator switch as above.

Just a couple of thoughts :-)
