Well, I bit the bullet and upgraded the RAM to 8Gb, so that was the
perfect opportunity to down the server, take some pictures, fit
another disk and measure the power usage!

So..

for power, it uses about 170 Watts when booting - less than I
expected actually, as that's a lot of disk spinning up. When up and
running, that drops to about 145 Watts, which seemed pretty steady
(although, at that point, a lot of the VMs inside the machine were
booting, so not exactly quiet).
