actually, not this time  I thought about it, but it seemed almost as
if it would re-introduce some resilience issues, after going robust
with mdadm...

I guess I don't understand it fully, and opted for "safe".

as it happens, I have found that Gutsy 7.10 might not be the best
choice - it appears that there's an issue with Linux Kernel 2.6.22
(which gutsy uses) and vmware server causing long io waits and less
performance...

I'm going to be dropping back to Feisty's 2.6.20 Server Kernel to
give it a try.

part of the problem for getting pictures/power usage and so on... is
that it's already almost indispensible!!
