All you need to do is to install it to a different drive partition
than
the one where XP is installed.  You get asked where to install, so it's
pretty easy.  You end up with a choice of OSs at boot time, with Vista
as the default.

One major thing to note - if you are on a domain you MUST specify a
different computer name for the Vista install.  If you use the same name
as for XP, you will end up locked out of the domain when you boot into XP.
