Unicol make Plasma mounting bracket that hinge as you describe.
There are a couple of potential problems.
1. The weight. Because the screen will be hanging effectively from one
side, it
will exert much more strain on the fixings, also it will take quite a bit
of
effort to actually move the bracket, you also need it to be held firmly in
both
its open and closed positions. I would suggest that a Satellite Jack as
used
for motorised dishes might be the best motive force. Also because it has a
positional sensor for feedback, you could than possibly implement several
positions for different viewing requirements.
2. the cables will always flex at exactly the same point and will fail due
to
stress fractures much earlier than would normally be expected.
