Re: [OT] HDD Replacement

I use Norton Ghost. Creates an image of the entire disk and squirts it back
onto the new drive. Works over LAN, with CD/DVD even over a cable plugged
between parallel ports!

You could use a utility from the HDD manufacturer which will copy the
entire partition, but I haven't really used that successfully.

Tim.

ps I just did the same but as I was upgrading my drives after the Ghost
Restore I found that my drives ran at the old not the new speed. I had to
reinstall. Good luck - and make sure it is all backed up before you start!

Subject: [ukha_d] [OT] HDD Replacement

I am upgradeing a hard drive currently running 98 and other progs.

Without reinstalling onto the new hard drive is there a utility that
will copy all Inc system over to the new drive and would it run ok
like this as there is alot of stuff installed on the dirve and I
relaly can't be doing with trying to re-install it all.

I can attach both drives at the same time and see then etc. etc.

I presume that just sys'ing the drive and copying everything isn't
enough for 98?

Many thanks

Stuart..
