osCommerce does a pretty good job of running an online shop
http://www.oscommerce.org/ and
interfaces with most payment systems.
Our shop is based on osCommerce, and Calum managed to set it up pretty
quickly - you get an awful lot "straight out of the box".
LinITX.com also use osCommerce.
