If your talking really and truly "on the go" then I'd look at
the=
=0D
new 12"=0D
=0D
PowerBook... All the features.. Just much much smaller :-) If it=
=E2=80=99s=0D
the=0D
=0D
screen estate that you want then you would be able to cope with it=
=0D
on the=0D
=0D
road, but you would notice it! (or consider the new 15")=0D
=0D
=0D
=0D
If your buying new though I'd wait a week or so for Panther to be=
=0D
=0D
released... And then get it included... At the moment its free for=
=0D
current=0D
=0D
buyers... But you have to pay P&P costs=0D
=0D
=0D
=0D
I know... The =C2=A3-$ conversion rate is always painful... Its be=
tter=0D
with Apple=0D
=0D
than most though...=0D

My main reason for purchase (apart from looks) was that I work wit=

=0D
still have=0D

spreadsheets, some image editing, making of videos, or just two wo=
rd=0D

=0D
side by side - wicked for watching the odd DVD too!=0D
=0D
=0D
=0D
The weight of the laptop itself is actually not that bad.. I carry=
=0D
it with=0D
=0D
me every day to work and back and I don't notice that much=0D
difference=0D
=0D
between it and the ThinkPad it replaced, it's the expression on=0D

OS X is a dream to use, yes it does crash now and then (nowhere ne=
ar=0D
as=0D
=0D
often as XP does on this dell I'm typing on now!) but its only the=
=0D
one app=0D
=0D
that crashes and you can easily continue working. You also have t=
he=0D
beauty=0D
=0D
that underneath it all is a strong BSD Unix, so if you want you ca=
n=0D
run all=0D
=0D
your unix programs - I've had KDE and Evolution running on top of =
OS=0D
X=0D
=0D
without a problem. Of course.. If you just have to have Windows X=
P,=0D
then=0D
=0D
you can run it up in a Virtual PC session.=0D

=0D
One word of warning... The simple purchase of a mac doesn't stop=
=0D
there... I=0D
=0D
bought this laptop a good few months ago now... Since then a new=
=0D
iPod has=0D
=0D
appeared, then came the new wireless keyboard and mouse, and panth=
er=0D
(OS X=0D
=0D
10.3) is preordered for delivery on the 24th - this should add a=
=0D
good deal=0D
=0D
of speed.=0D
=0D
=0D
=0D
Just noticed that as I have been typing this someone has mentioned=
=0D
theres=0D

one in the refurb store... I was going to mention this too. My=0D

laptop itself was released, it cost me =C2=A31950 including VAT, a=

=0D
the laptop was going new for =C2=A32600. Add to that the fact tha=
t the=0D
laptop I=0D
=0D
received was BRAND NEW (a cancelled order) then I was well chuffed=
=0D
at my=0D
=0D
saving (especially since I have claimed the VAT back too, as it wa=
s=0D

company purchase!) As Apple say, most refurb stock is either bran=
d=0D
new or=0D
=0D
has been returned within 7 days, comes with a clean bill of health=
=0D
and the=0D
=0D
remainder of its AppleCare warranty - which can be extended - ther=

however be cosmetic marks or scratches on the item... I was lucky=
