aashram,

My brother has a US girlfriend, I sent him your message and here's his
response:

Quote:
I haven't any experience with an 'International license'. She has a US
licence and a provisional UK, I can't get her insured as anything other
than a UK learner. Technically you can drive for a year in this country
with a us licence, doesn't mean anyone is going to insure you though. I
couldn't find anyone that would. I rang the DVLA about the 1 year thing,
so thats not urban myth. Don't really no what to suggest other than she
get a UK licence.
End quote

HTH,

Tim H.

I am hitting deadends with the following matter, any experience of
advice is much appreciated.

My girl friends is from New york and has an international license. I
want to get a second vehicle
and put her on as a named driver for that vehicle. What company will
allow me to do
as most them want uk license.

thanks for advice.
