This is (or has been) the subject of heated debate on the
uk.tech.tv.sky newsgroup (there may be a surplus ".tv" in there).
Both models of Sony digiboxes have an optical digital audio out. This
works and passes PCM stereo with "ordinary" Dolby surround sound,
when available from the transmission.
DD, however, isn't supported. Whether this is a hardware problem, or
just software, hasn't been definitively determined, although both
camps have their vociferous advocates.
