There is one function for my air conditioning system (SWING) which is in the same situation, unfortunately there is no way to get a feedback.
How do you think that this wold be possible, anyway..?

But this cannot be done even with X10..:-)).. so this is not an infrared only issue.

You're right, but.. what can we do? Put a photodiode in the front of the LED who display the status?
