Just as a note on your "minimum level of performance" bit ... I have
downstairs a five channel Rotel THX power amp. That's the original THX
spec (which became THX Ultra) rather than THX Select. Although that amp
has the THX badging to show that it has been certified by Good Old
George (TM) to meet the THX spec it actually sounds fairly pants when
playing music. Certainly if placed side by side with the Bryston 9BST
THX that I mentioned previously the difference is huge.
