I gotta say I'm a little bit sceptical about that claim, - it wouldn't be
"normal"..

DIMMS in general normally do NOT have to be installed in Pairs...

I have 3 laptops which all take SODIMMS, and NONE of those machines require
them to be fitted in pairs. (in fact at least one of them only has a single
slot!)

So until it has been proven by Gareth, I'd take it with a large pinch of
salt...
