According to my brother-in-law, there seems to be no set convention.

Red +12v
Black 0v

are useful starting points.

You can pair the other four wires up however you want.  If using DP (double pole) wiring (separate loop and tamper) then blue/white loop and green/yellow tamper would be fine.  If using EOL (end of line) wiring, then you only need one of the pairs, eg. blue/white.

So your assumptions were pretty valid!

Guys,
what's the wiring convention for uk 6 core alarm cable when wiring normal pir and mag contact sensors.... I'm just about to put my shiny new comfort panel on line.

From memory I think it is....
Red 12+
Black 12V-
Blue / white n/c or /no alarm trigger
Green / Yellow tamper circuit
Is this correct?
Thanks.
Steve
