Does anyone leave their ePod on permanently at the moment?

What I was hoping to do is have mine permanently powered using the external
PSU and remove the battery pack (as that will only fry itself silly over
time). I was hoping that I could get the ePod to stay on but turn off the
screen after a period of inactivity even whilst on external power.
