In Mark M's situation we just forced a daily call

Message & Setup > Phone Connection > Make Daily Call

This took a LONG time on Mark's, something like 2 hours, although only
around 40 mins of this was on the modem.

The status line on that screen gives you info on what it's doing,
Preparing Call, Housekeeping, downloading etc.....

Bear in mind you don't have to stay on this screen while it's updating,
you can go view/record/just play with the tivo while it downloading.

Also this daily call is usually just for downloading new EPG information,
just so happened this time Mark's downloaded 2.5.5

On mine (before it went back, to get a new one) running this upgraded

Darren (Only had Tivo for a day and missing it already, roll on Friday
when I get my new one)
