Answered my own Question... the LDR drops from a good 800 ohms down
to about 100 ohms in daylight, and about 60 ohms with a fook off
spotlight glaring on it, so it's a pretty safe bet I would say that the
circuitry is designed to maintain a steady state of 60-100
ohms..
Just
tested the gubbins with a 90ohm resistor, and the switching works just
perfect.
:)
Now,
off to Craplins....
Hmmm, in that case, a low value resister in line with the relay
could
provide an extra degree of protection, if there was any issue... time to
pull
apart my light sensor (unused) and figure out what the lowest value of the
LDR
is in bright light.. that should give an idea of the designed
level...

Just had another thougt on this. When the light sensor (LDR)
is
in use <QUOTE>...the resistance falls as the light becomes
brighter...</QUOTE> therefor during the day the resistance
between control lines would be fairly low anyway, maybe not quite dead
short, but till low enough for the circuit to have to be able to cope
with the condition.

Having more of a delve here,
there's still the potential for getting the curtains caught in an
unknown
condition...
If you send a "close" whilst an open is in progress, or
vice versa, it stops.
This strikes me as exactly what could
happen
if someone inadvertently issues a web command, then does an "oh-shit"
and
clicks the opposite... rather than undoing the mistake, it would leave
the curtains "hung"
The document says however, if the signal
condition is maintained, then the operation will happen
anyway..
It's all down to the electrics I suppose.. does a perpetual
"open" signal stress some component, or does it behave well when
presented with a "maintained for a loooooong time"
signal?
Time for some testing I suppose, although I find myself not
very inclined to risk blowing one of these guys, given the unlikelihood
of getting it replaced easily.
Stuart, did you notice whether the
curtains opened/closed on the drop or rise of the 0V
pulse?
