Look at CAT5 modular faceplates.

Blanks are available for a few pence and are a soft plastic not the brittle
type as used for lightswitches. Also Clipsal faceplates are quite soft.

MK are hard as hell and destroy drillbits and other cutters :-(

hi all,

i'm currently making some wall plates for my node 0 and for some of the
rooms in the house (finally getting round to sorting out the current
mess). so far had no problems making phono and speaker plates, but
having trouble with the s-video plates.

my hand-drill won't take the 10mm bit i was going to use (i believe the
s-video needs 9mm hole) and my electric drill is single speed (plus
hammer) and just smashed the first plate i tried.

i could buy a pillar drill, but for the few number of plates i need it
just seems a bit overkill? i can't see i'd use it again for a while. it
is an option though.

i read on a usenet archive that somebody bought wallplates with coax
sockets in, popped them out and replaced them with s-video sockets (i
have chassis sockets, maplin code JX08J), has anyone done this
successfully? or does anyone have an other hints (apart from clipsal
etc, as i also need to add some 6-pin mini din for extending ps/2 ports
for my ir keyboard/mouse).
