Sorry to hear about your recent burglary, I don't have all the=20
answers to hand, but my immediate response here is Comfort=20
(http://www.comfort.org.uk). This
is a very sophisticated and modular=20
alarm system that can certainly meet most if not all of your=20
requirements.

It will certainly detect movement and perform actions based upon=20
that, including switching cameras on and feeding the pitures to the=20
web. I'm not sure about recording pictures, but I would assume that=20
is part of the camera software.

The alarm system can also call you on your mobile in the event of an=20
intruder, but I am not sure about sms. All alarm related information,=20
along with home automation stuff can be viewed and controlled through=20
the web interface. This could include you remotely hitting the panic=20
button. You can also speak through the 'keypads' from a phone, so you=20
could tell the scumbag that the cops are on route and he is being=20
filmed.

All this is available right now in the UK and I have most of it=20
installed, however it is not cheap. For a complete system to do=20
everything you are talking about, it is going to be somewhere in the=20
region of =A31000, however there may well be ways to reduce that cost=20
by recycling parts of your existing alarm system. Installation is=20
complicated, I did mine myself but others here have called=20
in 'professionals' and been disappointed with their lack of knowledge.

I would certainly recommend talking to Comfort about your=20
requirements.

Graham
