I have never met a road you could not reverse off but I suppose it is
possible when being followed by ignorant drivers.

He wasn't allowed to reverse off the busy road either, I seem to remember
in was like a double lane road right outside with only a narrow path.

Can not the driver just reverse into the drive?

Lots cheaper I should imagine?

I always reverse into parking areas so I have greater visibility etc when
leaving, mind you driving a van is a slightly different technique due to
lack of visibility. Amazing how many cars pass behind me when I am across
the road during a 3 point turn! same reason why dust carts have a CCTV
camera on the rear! BTW nice armoured cameras!

Their was someone else in the news a few years ago did the same. The
council wouldn't let him have a driveway because it would mean he would
have to reverse out onto a busy road. So he build a turntable and the
council had to give in and low the curbs for him.

Motorist builds driveway turntable to avoid reversing

A motorist has built a turntable on his driveway so he doesn't have
to reverse onto a busy road.

Keith Slater wanted to be able to enter and leave his Lambley home
driving forwards.

Now all he has to do is press a button and his car is turned to face
the right direction.

The 38-year-old told The Mirror: "I got the idea from train
turntables."
